ANNFIELD PLAIN FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY
North West Durham
We are a group of like minded people with an interest in Family & Local History, based in Annfield Plain but covering the history of the whole of North West Durham.
The Society was formed in 2000 and have a small but thriving group. Over the years we purchased the local church records on microfilm and this year purchased the following years: 1914 - 1922 7 1935 - 1970 of the Stanley News. The Society also has two film readers available in the Annfield Plain Library, all all times during library opening hours.
There is an ongoing project, being conducted by members of the Society, to record and transcribe the registers and headstones in some of the local churches. The projects for 2013 and 2014 are the Stanley New Cemetery and the Stanley News. We will also be providing projects to coincide with with the centenary of the First World War in 2014.
